Feb 1 – Feb 7

January 31, 2009 § 4 Comments

As I don’t seem to have time to draw daily cards at the moment – let alone think or write about them – I thought I’d try this: a 3-card reading for the week ahead which I can think about and write about in dribs and drabs (maybe).

I used the Hudes, which is my Deck of the Month for February. I’m warming to this deck day by day.

1 – Opportunities – 5 of Pentacles

2 – Challenges – Page of Swords

3 – Advice – 9 of Swords

Thoughts on this to follow (hopefully)!

    Hi Lynda,

Happy New Year and congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

I recently got the Hudes Tarot myself after a reading I had done, and was totally captivated by this deck. I loved the painterly feel to the cards, and thought to myself that this was one of those decks that would be most like the one I would like to design myself. They’re moody, but beautifully coloured. When I look at the images I feel as if I know the people portrayed in them.

I’ve just laid out the cards that you drew today and here’s what I think…
Opportunities – 5 Pentacles. You may gain from an adverse situation in ways that you wouldn’t have thought possible. Perhaps by being deprived of something it will help you to gain a richer understanding. You know the saying from Shakespeare “Sweet are the uses of adversities”.
Challenges – Page of Swords. It will take some astute thinking to make the above possible. You’ll also need to be vigilant.
Advice – You may worry about the action you’ve taken wondering whether or not it was the right thing to do. This is not really an easy card to read for “advice”, but as the card relates to anxiety and over worrying, there is a certain amount of exaggeration here. It could of course mean having sleepless nights if you’re kept awake by the baby. Or the whole thing could be linked to your daughter….she may have colic (as the 5 of Pentacles links to poor health) and you’ll have to try and work out what foods you’ve had (if you’re nursing her) that might have caused it.

I’m not sure how literal to take the cards for a short time span. I think it tends to soften the meaning overall. I’d be interested to know what you think (when you have time of course);)

    Best wishes,

    Hi Kate,

Happy New Year to you too and thanks for the comments on my reading. Nice to hear you’ve got the Hudes too.

As you can see from my recent posts I’ve had lots of thoughts about the 5 of Pents but not so much about the other cards. I’m hoping to post about those too though before the weekend’s up.

My thinking is that the three cards aren’t necessarily related. That is, the opportunity card and challenge card could both be referring to totally different situations (I’ve a feeling the Page of Swords represents my daughter).

I agree with you about the 9 of Swords as not being easy to read as advice. I tend to see it as advising giving something a lot of thought – not sweeping it under the carpet or pretending it doesn’t exist, but confronting it (whatever “it” may be – fears, doubts, regrets, anxiety, etc.)

Although the 5 of Pents has resonated with me a lot this week, the other two cards haven’t. But perhaps that’s just because I haven’t focused on them as much. I’m sure if I did they’d become clearer.
